So long, Texas

With a Texas-size smile on my face, this leg of the trip comes to a close. It marks 1 week down (out of a total of 6), 4 restaurants visited, 4 local food purveyors discovered, and 8 new family members in my life … THE awesome crew.

Today, we wrapped another successful day. We visited Southpaw’s Organic Grill in Dallas and then Hail Merry headquarters where they “cook up” or “un-cook up” tasty raw, vegan, gluten-free desserts.

We had a blast hanging with Reza and TJ, the owners of Southpaw’s. Reza is a two-time Texas Golden Glove champion and is coming out of retirement for a big fight this summer. He serves up the foods that he grew up eating (as a boxer) since the age of 12 – light, clean, healthy eats. He’s got great energy and he and TJ were super welcoming and accommodating. Thanks, guys!

Tomorrow, we head to Seattle via a layover in San Francisco. In fact, we’re up in 4 hours (that’s 2:30am) to load the cars and head to the airport for a 6am flight. Once we land, we hit the ground running and head over to our first Seattle restaurant to film. There’s no stopping this crew.
